I started to build a slightly larger jump made out of a pallet and some other wood parts. Its not that high and not very portable but i think i can find a good spot where i can use it, and move it around in a smaller area. And hopefully hide it there in between uses so that i always have it when i need it.

During the build i got some material for a smaller jump thats more portable. A bit of a kicker that i think can be used for different things. Needs some more fixing but its almost complete.

I have a few other build ideas but more about them later.

My first session with the mountainboard

At the same time i went out to test my old hardtail as a freeride bike, i brought my mountainboard with me to have a test. Felt pretty ok riding it when i found places to ride.

The military training ground i visit regularly with my mountain bikes are a fun place but not suited for my mountainboard. Half the area is filled with huge rocks and other annoying things which makes riding impossible. The other half is loose sand and rideable in some small areas. Atleast usually but this year there have been a lot of military vehicles driving around making deep and wide tracks. And the local motocross/enduro club have started to use more of the area than before.

So this place is not an alternative for my mountainboarding. I need to find other spots that works a lot better. And until then there will be a paus in my mountainboard riding. Hopefully it wont take to long finding a spot that works so i can start practice.

Oldschool Freeride

Went out for a ride yesterday to test my old hardtail to see if i can use it for some kind of freeride sessions. There is a military training ground in which also a local motocross/enduro club has their practice. This place has some interesting features but a lot of sand and it really messes with your bike. Especially during dry summers.

I bought my old hardtail 2010 and it is getting old. Some parts needs to be changed but the cost is to high, and not something i want to spend money on. There is annoying sounds coming from different parts of the bike and lubrication does not seem to help. Not very pleasant to hear on a longer ride or a commute. But the bike works pretty well as a play bike inside that military training ground. Not having to be careful with the bike makes it more fun and interesting. More stuff to try now with that in mind.

The frame geometry is not the most fun though. Cant go very low with the saddle which makes some descents a bit complicated. It has those rim brakes which are not that effective, something i noticed yesterday. But those things can be dealt with in some way. And its good practice. But an old XC bike is not really built for this kind of riding so i guess there will be some limitations. We’ll see what those might be.
